SLET as commonly known as SET is an examination conducted by the SLET Commission of Assam in the North-East Region. The main reason behind this exam is to list eligible candidates to be appointed as an Asst. Professor in the same league as National Eligibility Test (NET) organized by University Grants Commission (UGC).

SLET Commission Assam has recently released the official notification of the State Level Eligibility Test 2023. Interested and eligible candidates may submit their applications online.

Type of exam – State-level eligibility test for Assistant Professor

Mode of application – Online mode

Mode of exam – Offline mode

No. of question papers – 2 papers

Exam duration – 03 Hours

Maximum marks – 300 marks

State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) consists of two papers. All two papers will have only objective-type questions of the following forms:

  1. Multiple Choice
  2. Matching
  3. Assertion and Reasoning
  4. True and False

Paper – I shall be of the general subject, intended to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate.

Paper – II shall consist of 100 objective-type questions based on the subject. Each question will carry 2 marks. There will be no negative marking. The compensatory time provided to the visually impaired candidates and PWD candidates with writing disabilities in Paper-I is 20 minutes. Accordingly, there is a provision of 20 minutes of compensatory time in Paper – II.

Eligibility Criteria of the SLET Exam

  • Age Limit

There is no age limit to appear in the SLET Exam. Candidates who qualify in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission.

  • Educational Qualification

Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in case of General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates.

However, the scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Person with Disability (PWD) Category, and the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to the non-creamy layer who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master degree or equivalent examination are eligible to appear in the Test.

Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the final qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and the result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination has been delayed may also apply for this Test.
